Colour Therapy

Colour therapy, which is also called chromotherapy, is a form of therapy that stems from the basis that colour and light can be used to treat physical or mental health. This comes from the idea that they cause subtle changes in our moods and biology.

Color therapy has been used throughout history with records showing that is has been practiced in cultures such as ancient Egypt, Greece, China, and India.

Our Sunlighten sauna also includes chromotherapy lights so you can enjoy the benefits of colour therapy during your sauna. Below is a list outlining the health benefits that each colour can provide.

Blue is used to treat depression and pain. Darker shades of blue are also thought to have sedative properties which mean they may be helpful for people who experience insomnia or other sleeping disorders.

Green is the color of nature and its properties can help relieve stress and promote relaxation.

Yellow can be used to improve your mood and make you happy and optimistic.

Red is used to energize or invigorate a person who might be feeling tired or down. It should be used carefully though as red has the possibility to trigger people who might already be tense.

Orange, like yellow, can be used to elicit happy emotions from people. The bright warm color is also thought to be able to stimulate appetite and mental activity.
